The grand 23rd Anniversary Celebration of the Society for Audiovisual Study on Life and Environment
Report from the Secretary's Bench, 2011

It is a great pleasure for me to bring a very good-news for you. Our "Indian Association for Colour Transparency" is going to be Registered under a new name "Society for Audiovisual Study on Life and Environment".

Though the Society started from 1988 and stepped into 24 years, we could not register it under Societies Act as it had no permanent address. Now by the generosity of Prof. Tarak Mohan Das, our President who dedicated a portion of his own house at 24A, Karl Marx Sarani, Kolkata - 700 023 to our Society for office works, it is possible for us to make the society a registered one. A big hands to Prof. Tarak Mohan Das.
Now, we are proceeding towards the Silver Jubilee Year. Our society has already organized seminars and lectures showing CDs on various aspects of life and environment specially.

This year the 150th Birth Anniversary of Rabindranath Tagore is celebrated by the release of (1) long playing DVD - both Audio Visual Bengali and English Edition, (2) Song offerings from Gitanjali, an Audiovisual English Edition with long playing DVD, both edited by Prof. Tarak Mohan Das in collaboration with the sister organization "Prof. Tarak Mohan Das Foundation for Development of Life Science".

Throughout the whole year from 2010 - 2011 the association has organized many illustrious lectures and seminars on different subjects by many eminent persons in our bi-monthly sittings at Ballygunge Science College.

This festival would also be celebrated like. the previous years by presenting slides and CDs on Biodiversity, Environment and other informative subjects like Indian Culture and heritage, trekking and tourism by eminent scholars of different disciplines. The Society offers life membership at Rs. 500/- . A list of members is attached herewith. The pecuniary condition of the Society is sound and self sufficient.

Now my duty is the pleasant one to welcome the Honourable President, the Chief Guest and the special Guests, respected ladies and gentlemen present here today and to thank them for taking the trouble to come over here to make the festival a successful one.

It is my great pleasure also to express thanks and gratitude to the Sirla Industrial and Technological Museum for extending their kind help and collaboration in holding this twenty fourth festival of the Society here.
Hope the great success of the festival.
